It is being
reported that Mogadishu has fallen without a shot being fired as the Islamic "warriors" continue to show their true colors. I saw where one leader said they wanted to prevent a bloodbath, but I suspect the blood he was worrying about was theirs.
Yesterday I wrote a short post highlighting the ineffectiveness of Muslim fighters who seem to be neck and neck with the French as far as bravery and toughness are concerned. If not for their ability to find patsies to blow themselves up for the cause, while their leaders hide in caves, it would be very tough to take these guys seriously. The truth is, as soldiers, they are comical, but as murderous thugs they are very effective, and that is the problem.
As long as the MSM highlights their homicidal successes, it appears that they are winning, when in fact they have no chance of triumphing unless we pull back and allow them to claim victory. By escalating every death to the level of a national tragedy, the MSM gives them a credibility they have neither earned or deserve, and yet we find ourselves today discussing our possible defeat.
Anybody can kill people, whether it is an 89 year old man with a car, or some maniac with diesel fuel and fertilizer, or two guys sniping from the trunk of a car. Deaths are not that difficult to cause, especially if you hide in the shadows and target innocents.
However, we have allowed body counts to become the be all and end all of our foreign policies, so that by definition we are handicapped since we seek to
minimize deaths, while our opponents do the opposite. It is time for that to change.
Let us finally answer the enemy with the only language he respects or fears, as the Ethiopians have proven. I have always said that Iraq was our attempt to avoid a war of extermination against the Muslim radicals by providing them with a democratic society which would allow them to enter the 21st century and hopefully inculcate tolerance in them.
It appears that we have failed, not because we were wrong, but because we have allowed ourselves to have victory defined by the Left and MSM, and they have chosen to make it a contest of fatality counts. So now we must take the only route open to us, and that is a war of extermination until we get the Muslims to accept defeat.
As proof of the irony inherent in war, the incessant harping on deaths must now lead to killing on an unprecedented scale. I hope the Left is proud of itself.
