Two items caught my eye this morning which , while totally separate, are joined by a common factor: they both reflect Liberal policies and beliefs which ignore reality.
The first is an excellent
article about the buildup of Russia's nuclear forces, which is quite frightening for us. It seems that while the Clinton administration reoriented American policy by proclaiming the peace dividend and balancing the budget by gutting defense spending, the Russians have been modernizing their forces and investing in new technologies.
Now while all the blame cannot be put on the Dems, the writer shows how the Cold War was never accepted as such by that Party, and that the MSM has continued that fiction by not reporting on the Russian rearmament. Thus the American people have been kept in the dark about Russian missiles while being bombarded by Liberal talking points against the missile defense shield that the administration has pursued against relentless Dem resistance.
The other
story is about the increase in deaths of American female soldiers. There are many reasons for this, most of which pertain to the nature of the battles in Iraq and Afghanistan, but the key point is the:
"...Clinton administration's 1994 decision to rescind the so-called "risk rule." It kept females out of support units that would likely expose them to hostile fire or capture. If this rule were still in effect, female casualties would probably be lower."
Did the Liberals who fought for women's
equality in the military think the enemy was going to not shoot at these
liberated females? Did anyone with half a brain not realize that more women would die as a result of the insistence by the Left that they should not be deprived of the right to be in harm's way? Did they think the bullets would do a gender test before striking their targets?
For me these two stories are not of earthshattering significance since, like most intelligent people, I have never thought the Russians were to be trusted, and I knew giving women soldiers more frontline responsibilities would be dangerous. However, they are examples of the Liberal's inability to grasp reality and to understand the ramifications of their actions, which oftentimes entail increased risk and danger , for those of you who need it. Personally I have just about had my fill of them.
