It seems that John Murtha has been busier than we have suspected over the years gaming the system to his advantage.
This
article from the American Thinker details an interesting little scheme which resulted in a lot of money heading Murtha's way, which , when you consider his part in the Abscam investigations , is nothing shocking. Nonetheless as the writer points out WAPO may have been sitting on this story until it would not effect the elections, which would be reprehensible if true.
Therefore there are two possible villains in this story: Murtha , whose behavior will either be a target of the promised Democratic "swamp cleaning" or a scathing indictment of that Party's failure to abide by its campaign promises, depending on what they do, and the Washington Post which might very well have played an important part in covering up the kind of Congressional malfeasance they so love to reveal and castigate when it is done by a Republican.
This is really not that shocking a story, but it should be, and perhaps the fact that it seems so routine is the real news here.
