Jeffrey Skilling of Enron notoriety is to be sentenced today, and most are expecting a minimum of 25 years to be handed down. Last week Lynn Stewart received 28 months for aiding a terrorist, given to her by a Clinton appointed judge. Thus in our society today a white collar financial felony is considered approximately ten times as heinous as assisting terrorists if we operate under the supposition that the penalty fits the crime. Thus a person who lost money on Enron stock is considered to have been hurt more significantly than one of those who die in a terrorist attack. Think about that, and then realize how our judicial system has been hijacked by the Liberals and made to reflect their political correctness, which equates capitalism and its abuses with the most terrible acts perpetrated by men. Those same Liberals who plead for Gitmo detainees to be humanely treated are salivating at the thought of punishing Skilling with a lifetime conviction. Now I am not making light of his crimes, though having followed the trial and read a book written by a NY Times reporter on it, I cannot in all fairness say Skilling was guilty of all he is charged with, and may be no more culpable than to the extent that he ignored the obvious due to his ambition and pride. But does he deserve to be incarcerated for the rest of his life after Stewart was given essentially a slap on the wrist? And remember, what this really represents is the criminalization of Capitalism and Big Business by the Left, as they are able to make these white collar offenders into the most despicable of people. The statue of this Justice is not blind and balancing a scale, but rather reading a copy of Das Kapital while wearing a Che T-shirt. Thus we see the Liberal agenda for national security: arrest an accountant today.
